Why to eat paratha?
Paratha is a easy to make favorite recipe of all age groups and apart from that ,its tasty too.You can make several different variations of it with various kind of veg and non veg stuffing.
Paratha can actually be eaten as breakfast ,in lunch or in dinner which implies that if you are a bachelor or working woman like me then this is the best alternative of carbohydrates which you can get.Whenever you feel that you are running short of time,do make a paratha for yourself.
The basic ingredient and the main science of cooking remains same which means once you master making the basic paratha ,you can make ‘n’ no of parathas with all your favorite cooking.
The main problem with most of the people is that they are unable to properly roll the paratha into a perfect shape and if at all they achieve that the correct texture and puffiness never comes.

Suggested serving:Paratha+tea(Favourite of most odias)
|2||1teaspoon of salt|
1.Take some wheat flour in a bowl.Add a pinch 1 teaspoon of salt and then slowly add water.Mix flour and water until you make a nice and soft dough.(if you want to see a step by step video of how to make dough let me know in the comment section).
2.Divide the dough into small balls of around 4 cm diameter. The ball size should be a it more to help in easy rolling and puffiness.
3.Now start rolling the ball using a rolling pin .Carefully rotate it and then roll again.Repeat this process to make it a proper circle.
4.Now lets start shaping the paratha. After you have rolled in into circle, fold the circle from the middle into a semicircle and press around the edges.
5.Now the final design.Again fold the semicircle into half and you will get a nice triangle..wasn’t it easy enough.
6.And now carefully start rolling this shape along all its edges. You may toss it and roll the other side too.Add some loose flour and then roll if its sticking more to the rolling board.Ensure that you roll this triangle on all sides eqaully to get a perfect shape.
6.All set,its now ready to be cooked.Switch on the stove and set a tawa and let it heat. After a minute toss in your beautiful rolled paratha.
7.Let it get heated.Wait a little till you find bubbles appear on the it.Once it happens toss it into the other side. This step is crucial since it ensures our paratha puffs well.
8.Take a little oil /ghee/butter(use any of these you like ,I prefer using cow ghee).Ghee adds a lovely aroma to it.
9.Once you see your it puffing ,toss it to the other side and add a little oil/ghee/butter again with the help of a spoon or brush.
10.Remove it from the tawa and serve it in a serving plate.Your paratha is now ready to be eaten ,fresh with lovely aroma.
- Never let your paratha cook longer in the tawa.Toss it quickly as you see bubbles and then add oil. This ensure that your it is not hard.
- Roll the paratha evenly .Ensure that there is no thicker ends, otherwise the thick portion tastes uncooked.
Why prefer paratha instead of rice?
- Wheat has more fibres and proteins as compared to rice which means this is good alternative if you are on a diet.
- This will be cooked in less than half of the time that rice takes.
- The best part being ,wheat has calcium whereas rice doesnt. So if you are above 40 switch to wheat instead of rice.
- You can relish parathas with various different chutneys, jams, sauces,or even curries.
